Class: Knitting

Beginning Knitting: - Learn the basic stitches of knitting and purling. The new class project will be a simple cowl, perfect for wearing this winter and/or gift giving for the upcoming holidays. You’ll learn such techniques as: casting on, knit stitch, purl stitch, using stitch markers, K2tog, YO, binding and blocking. By the end of class you will be ready to move on to projects like socks, hats and scarves, even sweaters. Class kit available for purchase.

My Favorite Hat: -Knitting in the round is a valuable skill to add to your knitting toolbox. By learning to knit in the round a whole new world of projects becomes available to you - hats and socks to name just a couple. In fact many projects are written only to be worked in the round Some people love knitting in the round so much that they convert patterns written or flat knitting to be worked in the round instead. Class kit available for purchase.

Class: Weaving / Knit

Beginning Weaving: -Learn all you need to know to start weaving independently on a four-shaft floor loom using one of our beautiful new Schacht looms.  Warping, dressing the loom, reading a pattern, weaving plain weave, twills, overshot, epi, ppi, sett are only a few of the skills you will learn. You will weave a sampler of several different patterns. A fun class with lots of TLC.

Weaving a Color/Pattern Gamp: A “gamp” is a systematic arrangement of warp threading and weft color sequences in sections do equal sizes.  The gamp is a very versatile tool for creating and storing ideas for the future.  In this class we will weave with all the colors of the rainbow in the warp and cross them with a second rainbow of colors.

Materials: Lunatic Fringe Yarn - Tubular Spectrum Color Kit and 200 yds. of black and white yarn (all supplies are available at EWE and me… and are discounted in conjunction with class attendance.

Intermediate Weaving: Start a new journey weaving hand manipulated laces, clasp weft and  double weave.  You will review weaving twills and overshot  just to make sure you  understand what you learned in your Beginning Class.  You will review the warping procedure using the back to front method and plan a new project.  You can see this will be a full and enjoyable class.

Kimono Jacket: A Fun knit. This kimono seems to look good on everyone.  The first night will include design time, yarn selection, and knitting to gauge.

Class: Spinning Wheel

Beginner Spinning Wheel: Have a spinning wheel that you don't know how to use? Bring it with you and learn to ply two different colored commercial yarns together before making a single strand of yarn with roving wool. Learn the parts, proper maintenance, and storage of your wheel. Take home a beautiful skein of your own unique yarn. Rent a wheel from Ewe and Me for $10.

Class: Knit Cowl & Shawl

Montana Mountain Cowl: Learn about Mosaic knitting when you create this Moebius Cowl. It’s a 2 colored cowl by Andrea Mowry. You will learn a provisional cast on, kitchener stitch in the round and Mosaic knitting using color and texture in an engaging knit for all.

What The Fade Shawl: You will knit a epically beautiful faded triangle shawl by Andrea Mowry.  In this class, you learn beautiful and bouncy 2 color brioche, brioche increasing, and combining color in a 6 color fade.  We will go over color theory and pick out our fade during the first class.

Class: Spinning-Chain Plying

Spinning-Chain Plying: Chain plying is a plying method that creates a beautifully plump yarn with no waste.  It can be used to change the weight of your stash yarn or to finish your hand spun. For this class, students need to be comfortable using a spinning wheel. **Ask at front desk for times.**

Class: Fair Isle Knitting

Fair Isle KAL: Would you like to learn Fair Isle this summer?  I have a painless Knit-A-Long for you to enjoy all summer long.  By the end of August you will be ready for the cooler weather!

The pattern is a beautiful double wrap cowl called “Advent Scarf 2017” by Tricia Weatherston.  You will find it on Ravelry and can purchase it in the store.  It consists of 24 daily patterns that use 4-6 rows as each mini design changes.  Each takes about an hour's time and a nice cup of tea for a break.  In the first class, you will learn to do the provisional cast on, knit with two colors, and read the charts and instructions.  Once we get you started, come when you can.  There is no charge.

 Materials: 700-800 yds. (3 - 9 colors) of fingering weight yarn, circular needle US 2.5 (3 mm) with a 40” cable, crochet hook in a size that is bigger than your needle for a loose chain, scrap yarn for provisional cast on (light color, cotton would be great!)

Class: Pin Loom Weaving

Beginning Pin Loom Weaving: Students will learn how to use the Zoom Loom to make squares and how to sew squares together to make items. We will cover different yarn types to use with the loom, multiple joining techniques, and suggested first projects such as a beginners scarf.

Materials:  1 Zoom Loom; 1 skein of Adriafil Knitcol will be enough to make a thin scarf. Any DK weight yarn will work, no cotton.  


Advanced Two-color Pin Loom Weaving: Students will learn to weave advanced color patterns on the Zoom Loom. Class will also cover joining techniques for different types of projects. Students will be able to make a cowl with the squares from this class. Students should be familiar with how to weave basic squares on the loom.

Materials:  Zoom Loom; 2 skeins of Silky Wool one of each color. High contrast colors will work best; if possible, get the book 100 Pin Loom Squares by Florencia Campos Correa. It is a great companion but not mandatory for the class.
