EWE and me... CLASS SCHEDULE

Debbie’s Class

Beginning Knitting:               Saturdays, July 6, 13, 20, 27                     1 - 3 PM

Cost: $80

Learn the basic stitches of knitting and purling.  Class project will be a small sweater which will teach you how to use these basic stitches to make patterned knitting.  By the end of class you will be ready to move on to projects like socks, hats and scarves, even sweaters. Materials: 1 skein light colored worsted yarn, NO VARIEGATED; US 8 24” cable needles; The Knitters Companion book by Interweave; Knit Gauge Ruler; Tape measure; Tapestry Needle; Scissors; Note taking materials

Dottie’s Classes   

Beginning Weaving:            July 20, 21, 27, 28 or         10 - 4:30 PM (1/2 hour lunch)

Cost:  $200                     August 17, 18, 24, 25

Learn all you need to know to start weaving independently on a four-shaft floor loom using one of our beautiful new Schacht looms.  Warping, dressing the loom, reading a pattern, weaving plain weave, twills, overshot, epi, ppi, sett are only a few of the skills you will learn. You will weave a sampler of several different patterns. A fun class with lots of TLC.

Materials:  Learning to Weave with  Deborah Chandler; all other supplies are included.

Intermediate Weaving:     July 20, 21, 27, 28 or       10 - 4:30 PM (1/2 hour lunch)

Cost: $200                        August 17, 18, 27, 28

Start a new journey weaving hand manipulated laces, clasp weft and  double weave.  You will review weaving twills and overshot  just to make sure you  understand what you learned in your Beginning Class.  You will review the warping procedure using the back to front method and plan a new project.  You can see this will be a full and enjoyable class.

Materials:  Learning to Weave with Deborah Chandler; all other supplies are included.

Nikki’s Class

Beginner Spinning Wheel         Saturday, July 13            11 - 4 PM (Lunch 1 - 2 PM)

Cost: $60                          or Sunday, July 28                                    

Have a spinning wheel that you don't know how to use? Bring it with you and learn to ply two different colored commercial yarns together before making a single strand of yarn with roving wool. Learn the parts, proper maintenance, and storage of your wheel. Take home a beautiful skein of your own unique yarn. Rent a wheel from Ewe and Me for $10.  

Breann’s Classes 

Spinning-Chain Plying:                    Reservations required                       1.5 hrs

Cost: $25

Chain plying is a plying method that creates a beautifully plump yarn with no waste.  It can be used to change the weight of your stash yarn or to finish your hand spun. For this class, students need to be comfortable using a spinning wheel.  Ask at front desk for times.

Materials: odds and ends of different sport weight or smaller commercial yarn. Bring a slow ratio whorl, if you have one.

Pati’s Class

Fair Isle KAL:          Saturdays, July 6, 20, Aug 3, 17           10 - 12 PM

Cost: $20

Would you like to learn Fair Isle this summer?  I have a painless Knit-A-Long for you to

enjoy all summer long.  By the end of August you will be ready for the cooler weather!

The pattern is a beautiful double wrap cowl called “Advent Scarf 2017” by Tricia Weatherston.  You will find it on Ravelry and can purchase it in the store.  It consists of 24 daily patterns that use 4-6 rows as each mini design changes.  Each takes about an hour's time and a nice cup of tea for a break.  In the first class, you will learn to do the provisional cast on, knit with two colors, and read the charts and instructions.  Once we get you started, come when you can.  There is no charge.

Materials: 700-800 yds. (3 - 9 colors) of fingering weight yarn, circular needle US 2.5 (3 mm) with a 40” cable, crochet hook in a size that is bigger than your needle for a loose chain, scrap yarn for provisional cast on (light color, cotton would be great!) 

People are welcome to join anytime.

Christmas in July KNIT-A-BEAR          Saturdays, July 6, 20.        1:00 to 3:00pm   Cost: $40

Get a head start on your holiday gifting!  Knit-A-Bear for your little darlings...and big darlings! It starts with the book that is full of choices...which bear and which outfit...

We will be doing "Lily" to learn the steps of construction.

Materials: Knit-A-Bear pattern book 

Large Bear (11") Main color: 3 Encore held double, Medium Bear (8") Main color: 1 Encore; Contrasting Color for ears and muzzle - 1 Encore, stuffing, tapestry needle, scissors,

Size 7 needles for Large, Size 4 needles for Medium (metal is suggested).

Kir’s Classes

Beginning Pin Loom Weaving:            Wednesday, Mar 12                    1 - 4 PM

Cost:  $30.00

Students will learn how to use the Zoom Loom to make squares and how to sew squares together to make items. We will cover different yarn types to use with the loom, multiple joining techniques, and suggested first projects such as a beginners scarf.

Materials:  1 Zoom Loom; 1 skein of Adriafil Knitcol will be enough to make a thin scarf. Any DK weight yarn will work, no cotton. 

Advanced Two-color Pin Loom Weaving:          Wednesday, Mar 26      

1 - 5 PM

Cost: $40.00

Students will learn to weave advanced color patterns on the Zoom Loom. Class will also cover joining techniques for different types of projects. Students will be able to make a cowl with the squares from this class. Students should be familiar with how to weave basic squares on the loom.                                                                                         Materials:  Zoom Loom; 2 skeins of Silky Wool one of each color. High contrast colors will work best; if possible, get the book 100 Pin Loom Squares by Florencia Campos Correa. It is a great companion but not mandatory for the class. 

Sock Knitting Group:                    Saturday, July 27                        3 - 5 PM

This group will be exploring different methods for knitting socks as well as knitting a pair a month.
