Class: Knitting

Beginning Knitting: - Learn the basic stitches of knitting and purling. The new class project will be a simple cowl, perfect for wearing this winter and/or gift giving for the upcoming holidays. You’ll learn such techniques as: casting on, knit stitch, purl stitch, using stitch markers, K2tog, YO, binding and blocking. By the end of class you will be ready to move on to projects like socks, hats and scarves, even sweaters. Class kit available for purchase.

My Favorite Hat: - Knitting in the round is a valuable skill to add to your knitting toolbox. By learning to knit in the round a whole new world of projects becomes available to you - hats and socks to name just a couple. In fact, many projects are written only to be worked in the round.

Some people love knitting in the round so much that they convert patterns written or flat knitting to be worked in the round instead.

Do EWE fight with your knitting sometimes? Do EWE wish the yarn store was open late at night to help you with last minute mistakes? This class is just for you! Come and learn how to read your knitting and gain the confidence to fix mistakes on your own! We will cover picking up stitches, fixing purls and knits that are in the wrong place, placing a life-line and how to use one, yarn over mistakes, twisted stitches, snags and tension issues. Come join us to be the boss of your knitting.

Movie Night Cocoon Cardi: This comfy cardigan is a modern, updated use for the granny square technique, without all the seaming! It uses a few simple stitches to create a sweater that flatters everyone. The pattern is easily adjusted for every person and most yarns, so everyone can make exactly what they want. Beginning crochet skills required, but beginners to experts can enjoy this project.

Class: Weaving / Knit

Beginning Weaving: -Learn all you need to know to start weaving independently on a four-shaft floor loom using one of our beautiful new Schacht looms.  Warping, dressing the loom, reading a pattern, weaving plain weave, twills, overshot, epi, ppi, sett are only a few of the skills you will learn. You will weave a sampler of several different patterns. A fun class with lots of TLC.

Hand Dyed Sock Blanks: Unique and intriguing color effects can be achieved by learning the basics of dye/painting and color composition. We will Paint-a-Sock Blank (knit fabric - 435 yards). Magic happens when you see the color movement on this sock blank. Immediately after drying the sock blank, you can start knitting your socks, a cowl, or a hat. Be an “Artist for a day”.

Intermediate Weaving: Start a new journey weaving hand manipulated laces, clasp weft and  double weave.  You will review weaving twills and overshot  just to make sure you  understand what you learned in your Beginning Class.  You will review the warping procedure using the back to front method and plan a new project.  You can see this will be a full and enjoyable class.

Kimono Jacket: A Fun knit. This kimono seems to look good on everyone.  The first night will include design time, yarn selection, and knitting to gauge.

Beginning Sock Knitting: Have you been wanting to learn to knit socks, but are just too intimated? Join us and learn the basics of cuff down sock construction! We will be knitting a small sample sock on worsted weight yarn and double-pointed needles, then we can get started onto other sizes!

Class: Spinning Wheel

Beginner Spinning Wheel: Have a spinning wheel that you don't know how to use? Bring it with you and learn to ply two different colored commercial yarns together before making a single strand of yarn with roving wool. Learn the parts, proper maintenance, and storage of your wheel. Take home a beautiful skein of your own unique yarn. Rent a wheel from Ewe and Me for $10.  I’ll have you creating your own yarns from fiber in no time.

Class: Spinning-Chain Plying / Brioche


Spinning-Chain Plying: Chain plying is a plying method that creates a beautifully plump yarn with no waste.  It can be used to change the weight of your stash yarn or to finish your hand spun. For this class, students need to be comfortable using a spinning wheel. **Ask at front desk for times.**

KNIT-A-BEAR:  Have EWE heard about Build-a-Bear? Do you have kids or grands that adore Build-a Bear? This is your chance to Knit-A-Bear, customize your bear for that special person, dress them in daily outfits. Get a head start on your holiday gifting! It starts with the book that is full of choices...which bear and which outfit... We will be doing "Lily" to learn the steps of construction.

Fair Isle KAL: Would you like to learn Fair Isle Knitting? Fair Isle Knitting brings garments to life, integrating colorful yarns and patterns into knitted garments from head to toe. Fall is definitely here and there is a chill in the air...the holidays are less than 100 days away. We have a painless Knit-A-Long for EWE to enjoy and expand your skill set. Your first time is the lesson (if needed) and all other times are free. The pattern is a beautiful double wrap cowl called “Advent Scarf 2017” by Tricia Weatherston. It’s on Ravelry and can be purchased through the store. There are 24 patterns that use 4-6 rows as each mini design changes. So much is learned in the first class... provisional cast-on, knit with two colors, along with reading those pesky charts and instructions.
