An introductary class for knitters, weavers or any fiber person wanting to create their own dyed yarns and begin to make a personal statement. White Fibers are the fiber artists’ canvas. With dyes in the hands of the dyer, the white fibers change. They become something new and exciting. Using the techniques of dyeing, resist dyeing and over-dyeing the dyer can create a palette of colors that will surely boggle the mind. In this class we will not only add color but also learn how to over-dye to change the color first applied to the skeins of yarn. So prepare yourself for a myriad of surprises and you will soon discover that “you too” can’t resist creating your own hand dyed yarn using “white fiber”.
Supplies: old clothes, if you have a color inspiration please bring.
If you are painting warps: Prepare three to four yard warps for your loom.
Dyes, yarn, dye chemicals, and all other materials (plus’s show and tell) will be provided.
