Beginning Knitting

Learn to learn the basic stitches of knitting and purling. Class project will be a small sweater which will teach you how to use these basic stitches to make patterned knitting. By the end of class you will be ready to move on to projects like socks, hats and scarves, even sweaters

Union Cowl

A simple cowl which will teach you the basics of stranded knitting. It is a great Christmas gift using fingering weight yarn that is quick and easy. Using a variegated and a solid or two solid colors gives this cowl a stained glass look. The cowl is on display at the shop.

Butterfly/Papillon Shawl

After the display of the Butterfly/Papillon shawls during the Yarn Crawl more people have expressed an interest in doing the pattern. We hope the yarn used in this shawl will arrive in the next few weeks. This class will be to help knitters understand the in and outs of the pattern and get started. Students must have their yarn and patterns before the class. Patterns can be at the shop or on ravelry. If there is a delay in the yarn the class will be delayed until November. Questions see WW.

Open Help Session

This two hour session is after closing on Saturday and WW is there to help with your questions on projects. Not one-on-one but a quiet and supportive environment. Pay when you come for help. Advanced Two-color Weaving on the Zoom Loom

Students will learn to weave advanced color patterns on the Zoom Loom. Students should be familiar with how to weave basic squares on the loom. We will learn four weaving patterns in the three-warp style: Diagonal Stripes, Zig Zag, Eight Single Rib, Double Outline Diamond. Twenty squares can be combined to make a cowl.

Beginning Weaving on the Zoom Loom

Beginner Spinning Wheel

Have a spinning wheel you don't know how to use? Bring it with you and learn to ply two different colored commercial yarns together before making a single strand of yarn with roving wool. Learn the parts, proper maintenance, and storage of your wheel. Take home a beautiful skein of your own unique yarn. Rental wheels available for $10. Class is in two sections, plying in the morning, spinning single ply in the afternoon.

Beginning Weaving

Learn all you need to know to start weaving independently on a four-shaft floor loom using one of our beautiful new Schacht looms. Warping, dressing the loom, reading a pattern, weaving plain weave, twills, overshot, epi, ppi, sett are only a few of the terms you will learn during this 24 hour class. You will weave a sampler of several different patterns. A fun class with lots of TLC.

Intermediate Weaving

Start a new journey weaving hand manipulated laces, clasp weft, double weave, twills and overshot just to make sure you are understanding how to read the patterns, texture, supplementary weft and whatever else we have time for. You will review the warping procedure using the back to front method and plan a new project. You can see this will be a full and enjoyable class.

As always, if you have a specific project or just want one-on-one instruction, our teachers are available for private lessons. Cost: $25/hour.  As always, supplies purchased in conjunction with the class are discounted 15%.
