Classes by Weldon (WW)

Beginning Knitting

Tuesday, November 27 and December 4, 11, 18

6 - 8 PM

Cost $80

Learn the basic stitches of knitting and purling. The class project will be a small sweater which will teach you how to use these basic stitches to make patterned knitting. By the end of class,  you will be ready to move on to projects like socks, hats, scarves, and even sweaters.

Beginning Crochet Sunday 2, 9, 16 10 - 12 am

Cost:  $60

Learn the basics of crochet or refresh those skills you learned as a child. After learning the 4 basic crochet stitches, we will work on simple spacloths and how to read patterns.

Open Help Session Saturday 1, 8, 15, 22 5 - 7 PM

Cost:  $10/session attended

Need help on a project and there is no class scheduled for that problem. Or need some help but don't need the chaos of the shop? This may be your answer. This two hour session is after closing on Saturday and WW is there to help with your questions on projects. Not one-on-one but a quiet and supportive environment. Pay when you come for help. Open to all levels.

Rigani Cowl Monday 3 1 - 3 pm

Cost- $20

Materials- 240/300 yards. Any kind of lightweight lace yarn. I used Hedgehog Fibres Kidsilk Lace. Needles size US 9 16 or 24 “ circular, Stitch marker. Pattern- Rigani cowl by Sabine Tautz/ spacecurry on ravelry.

A wonderful cloud like cowl that feels like air but can be warm.

Building Blocks Saturday 10 OR Monday 22 1 - 3 pm

Cost:  $20

Building Blocks is a two hour session once per month, start any month you would like. The series was designed to build your skills as a knitter, one block at a time. Each block builds upon the skills of the last pattern. At the end of this blanket you will have more confidence and knowledge as well as a beautiful blanket to show off!  

Required skills:  Cast on, bind off, knit stitch, purl stitch

Skills covered:  Chart reading, yarn-overs, bobbles, simple decreases, advanced decreases, cables, right twist, mock cables, slip stitches, left twist, SSK (Slip Slip Knit), make ones, fffSeaming

Required materials:

  • Yarn - 1400 total yards in a worsted weight yarn in 1 or more colors, each block will be one color

  • Needles - Size 8 needles

  • Notions - Cable needle, stitch markers, tapestry needle

  • Book - Building blocks, available in store

Building in Color Panels     Saturday 15 or Monday 17 1 - 3 pm

Cost:  $20 per month

Building in Color Panels is a two hour session once per month, start any month you would like. Six spaces available each day offered. This class introduces new stitches and techniques along with discovering color knitting. Each panel is designed to build your confidence while managing multiple yarns in creating your blanket.

Required skills:  Cast on,  Bind off,  Knit stitch,  Purl stitch

Skills covered:  Intarsia, Embroidery, Joining new colors, Double ended knitting, Short rows,  Knit below,  Make one purl,  Elongated stitch,  Mosaic knitting, Butterfly stitch,  Intarsia cable, Tuck stitch, Seaming, Borders

Required materials:

Yarn - Three different colors of worsted weight yarn, 936 yards of each

Needles - Size 6 circulars, 24 inch and 40 inch

Beginner Spinning Wheel

Saturday 8 OR Sunday 16

11:00 am - 4:00 pm, one hour lunch at 1:00 pm

Cost:  $60

Have a spinning wheel you don't know how to use? Bring it with you and learn to ply two different colored commercial yarns together before making a single strand of yarn with roving wool. Learn the parts, proper maintenance, and storage of your wheel. Take home a beautiful skein of your own unique yarn. Rental wheels available for $10. Class is in two sections, plying in the morning, spinning single ply in the afternoon.

Beginning Weaving December 1, 2, 8, 9 10 am - 5 pm

(1 hour for lunch)

December 27, 28, 29, 30 10 am - 5 pm

Cost:  $200 includes us of the looms, yarn, equipment and instruction

Learn all you need to know to start weaving independently on a four-shaft floor loom using one of our beautiful new Schacht looms. Warping, dressing the loom, reading a pattern, weaving plain weave, twills, overshot , epi, ppi, sett are only a few of the terms you will learn during this 24 hour class. You will weave a sampler of several different patterns. A fun class with lots of TLC.

Intermediate Weaving December 1, 2, 8, 9 10 am - 5 pm

(1 hour for lunch)

December 27, 28, 29, 30 10 am - 5 pm

Cost:  $200

Start a new journey weaving hand manipulated laces, clasp weft, double weave, twills and overshot just to make sure you are understanding how to read the patterns, texture, supplementary weft and whatever else we have time for . You will review the warping procedure using the back to front method and plan a new project. You can see this will be a full and enjoyable class.

As always, if you have a specific project or just want one-on-one instruction, our teachers are available for private lessons. Cost: $25/hour.  As always, supplies purchased in conjunction with the class are discounted 15%.
